This work reflects on how much of a process beauty really is in this era. Men and women both in this age are spending more time on beauty, in fact it has reached a state in my mind whereby it is almost acceptable that if you look better you are more likely to succeed seeing as people are judging others more and more by their looks. We have become a society of narcissists.. and I rather Enjoy it
I basically did this work in three layers: Started with all the darks, except left eye and eyebrow (did that near the end) then drew the right hand side of the honey upside down so as not to smudge or mark or dirty the paper then the light side of the face last without resting my hand on the paper...
This drawing took quite a while, but I think it was well worth the effort. The photo doesn't quite capture the detail i put into it, but thats alright because I just got hold of a decent camera and am in the process of taking pictures - will have this work updated soon! (*1/7/2010*Updated pictures, raised highlight to make paper white but did not edit actual drawing area)
I don't smudge any of my drawings for those of you that asked.... I draw the gradients in kinda the same way someone would do paint washes..? Yeah. Thats the best way to describe it..
Medium: Staedtler 6B Pencil (No smudging/blending whatsoever) Size: 35x40 cm Reference: [link] (which I found on some random website promoting The Matrix Reloaded.) just upped the contrast and brightness a bit - i prefer steep drawings personally. Featured Here: [link] ..and Here: [link]

[link] Sept 03 2007 CONGRATULATIONS latent-talent! received a DD for this a full YEAR after I drew mine. Would be so great if mine made it too - then we'd have two versions of the same thing!
Noways! doooo iiiittt!!! There's a lot of people who've done it as well, some of them better than mine in my opinion, I wasn't quite happy with the total outcome after looking at some of my recent pieces
I might cross it, seeing what great job you did.
awesome reference
awesome drawing!
I really enjoyed drawing it despite how long it took!
